Open to male and female Catholics in good standing, the Serra Club would be happy to hear from you if you are interested in its mission – to foster and encourage vocations to the priesthood and religious life. The group gets together on the second and fourth Friday of every month, at noon for lunch and a meeting.Members visit Parkersburg Catholic High School twice a year to meet with students, and provide information and assistance to those who are interested in religious vocations. They hold an annual dinner which the Bishop attends, and give him a contribution for education of priests, brothers, and sisters. They send birthday cards to priests and religious in this Vicariate, as well as cards to all priests in the diocese on their ordination anniversaries.

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic fraternal service organization in the world. The foremost of their many activities is the prayerful and financial support of candidates for the priesthood. Knights also serve in all the Parkersburg area parishes as ushers, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and members of Parish Councils. In community affairs, the K of C donates man hours and financial support to help the mentally and physically challenged in our area and worldwide. Locally, Parkersburg Council No. 594 has provided up to 15 college scholarships a year (funded mainly from Lenten fish fries); sponsored several youth basketball teams; and conducts a free-throw shooting contest for area young people. If you are a practicing Catholic man at least 18 years old, you are welcome to join the K of C. You’ll find fellowship with those sharing the same beliefs, recognizing the same duty to God, to family, to the Catholic community and the community at large.
